Privacy Policy — YT Transcript Scraper

For the Chrome extension YT Transcript Scraper by Mosh Bari · version 4.6 · last updated 6 September 2026

This extension reads transcripts in your own browser, on your own connection. There is no account, no server of ours that watches you use it, and nothing at all is sent anywhere unless you press something that asks for it.

What it reads

What stays on your computer

All of this is kept in your browser's own storage (chrome.storage.local). None of it is sent to the developer, and none of it can be read by anyone else:

Removing the extension, or clearing its storage, deletes every bit of it.

The only times something leaves your browser

Each one happens because you started it, and only then:

1. Handing a transcript to a page you are already on

When you press a button on one of these sites, the extension scrapes the transcript and gives it to that page — in the same tab, in front of you:

2. Tella → Council

If you paste a Tella call link, that link is sent to tellatotube.up.railway.app, which uploads the recording to your own YouTube account as unlisted. The transcript is then sent to The Closer's Council to write a follow-up message back to you. Nothing here runs on its own — it starts when you paste a link and press the button.

3. The Phone feature

Turned off unless you turn it on. When you pair a phone with the six-digit code, this computer checks pockettranscript.up.railway.app for links your phone has sent, scrapes them here, and posts the finished transcript back to that queue so your phone can collect it. The pairing is a random id held on this computer. Switching the feature off stops all of it immediately.

Signing in to YouTube

Connect your YouTube uses Google's own sign-in screen. The extension never sees your Google password and never stores it. The access is used for one thing: uploading the video you asked it to upload. You can withdraw it at any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions.

What this extension never does

Children

The extension is a tool for people making and studying videos. It is not directed at children and asks for no personal details from anyone.

Changes to this policy

If the extension ever starts doing something that is not described here, this page is updated first, with the date at the top changed. The version it applies to is named at the top too.
